Description: The official university personnel file for unclassified staff includes appointment letters; salary letters; evaluations of performance; college transcripts; letter notifying of tenure granted; letter specifying an indefinite appointment for academic staff; miscellaneous correspondence relating to leave, recommendations, discipline, and promotions; obituaries and death notices; and newspaper articles about the individual. Earlier files contain more varied information including programs of retirement ceremonies, letters written by the individual following employment at Stout, application forms, credentials packet, and miscellaneous materials.

Agency history: Initially, personnel responsibilities were handled by the Business Manager as part of the Business Office (which became the Business Affairs division in 1964). The Personnel Office was established in 1966 with Ted Dean serving as the head of the Office. Dean reported to Ed Schoepp, Vice President for Business Affairs.
